What is Fuorisalone?
Fuorisalone is an event that takes place every year in Milan at the same time as Salone del Mobile, with which it defines Milan Design Week.
Together with Salone del Mobile, it is the most important event in the world in the field of industrial design sector, especially the furniture sector.
The first Salone del Mobile, organized by Cosmit (Comitato Organizzatore del Salone del Mobile Italiano) took place in 1961: the years in which the furniture industry was developing, with Italy as one of the pioneering countries.
Over the years this event has expanded and now attracts people from all over the world.
In recent years, Fuorisalone also moved to digital level, launching Fuorisalone.it, which is now the official guide of the event.
Fuorisalone.it, a project founded by Studiolabo is in fact a communication platform that helps companies design, implement and promote events during Design Week.
How did Fuorisalone Japan Start?
The project was created on the occasion of the first event of Fuorisalone in Japan - in Osaka in October 2019 - namely the Design Link, a festival launched in collaboration with Daimaru, the largest Department Store in Japan.
The first phase of the project involved the creation of a database of contacts of Japanese designers and companies related to Milan Design Week in order to define the reference context and identify its protagonists.
On the occasion of the four editions of Fuorisalone proposed for 2020 and 2021, despite the pandemic, Fuorisalone has promoted and reported on and told about these realities on its channels, initiating the promotion of the project.
